I am an education consultant, having worked in education for over 40 years. Starting out as a researcher for the BBC, my teaching career began as a lecturer in English in further education. I then taught in a comprehensive school in the Forest of Dean, and moved to a girls’ grammar school in
Gloucester as Head of English and then Head of Sixth Form.
I moved into the independent sector as in 1993 as Deputy Head at The Red Maids’ School in Bristol. In 2000 I was appointed Head at Bedgebury School – a girls’ boarding and day school in Kent. I took up the post as National Director of the Boarding Schools’ Association in late 2006, and retired from
this post in August 2014. During my time at Bedgebury and the BSA I was an Inspector for the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate.
Following my retirement from BSA, I have worked as a consultant advising schools on their readiness for inspection. I also act as a panel member considering education admission appeals for two local
county councils.
In early 2017 I was invited to be a Governor at independent Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools and also Kymin View Primary School, a state primary school in Monmouth.
My husband and I have four adult children and we live in Monmouthshire.
